Living Standards

An album recorded in three different countries over the space of a year. The musicians hail from Norway, Sweden and South Africa. A fresh twist on old standards, the album boasts modern takes on classics such as “Comes Love” and “In the wee small hours”. It also features works by South Africa’s own jazz royals Carlo Mombelli and Buddy Wells with original lyrics paying homage to the new South African jazz standard. A wide variety of instrumentation is used on this album. Freedom’s Child

Freedom’s child was born out of a need to collaborate, create and facilitate change. Melanie Scholtz went on a soul stirring journey using the words of James Matthews as a muse for a new album called Freedom’s child. Connected is my second solo album It was my first endeavour as song writer and lyricist. This album for the first time featured my band, The Love Apples. This is an ever changing collective of musicians that come together and play my latest collection of compositions. The Love Apples for this collection of music was Andrew Lilley on piano, Charles Lazar on double bass, Jonno Sweetman on drums, Norwegian musicians, Gorm Helfjord on guitar and Ole Jorn Myklebust on trumpet.
