Living Standards
An album recorded
in three different countries over the space of a year. The musicians hail from Norway, Sweden and South Africa. A fresh twist on old standards, the album boasts modern takes on classics such as “Comes Love” and “In the wee small hours”. It also features works by South Africa’s own jazz royals Carlo Mombelli and Buddy Wells with original lyrics paying homage to the new South African jazz standard.
A wide variety
of instrumentation is used on this album. The Swedish musicians featured are Johan Horlen (alto sax), Martin Sjostedt (double bass), Kjell Ohrman (piano and B3 Hammond organ) and Moussa Fidera on drums. Once again joined by Jo Fougner from Norway on double and electric bass and the same line up of Love Apples as on “Connected” bring us proudly back to home to South Africa to complete the standards journey. Living standards was released in April 2010.
